Probably from Latin ērādīcāre (“root out, eradicate”) (and thus a doublet of the borrowing eradica). Another possibility is Late Latin or Vulgar Latin ridicāre (“tie a vine, e.g. in a vineyard”) (attested from a late gloss), from ridica (“stake; prop; vine-prop”); cf. also Spanish rodrigón. The semantic development in this case would pertain to how vines were set up in Romanian vineyards…
